The songs and dances of India are presented and explained. 2. UN votes independence for Libya by 1952 - After centuries of living under conquerors, Libya was liberated by the Allies in 1943. United Nations voted in 1949 that Libya should become an independent and sovereign state by 1952. A UN Commission is helping Libya to work out her transition from colonial status to independence.
