In his first starring film role James Garner plays Colonel William Darby, an Army man in charge of organizing a group of rangers to be deployed in activities in Italy and Northern Africa. The film is chiefly presented in two parts - the preparation of the rangers, and their deployment in live action. Cast includes Etchika Choureau, Jack Warden and Edward Byrnes.
