Shows how a bushfire in the Blue Mountains on 6 December 1977 caused the death of one person, 70 homes to be destroyed and the evacuation of thousands all in a space of five hours and similarly how the bushfire of summer 1967 in Hobart killed 62 people and destroyed upto 1000 homes and 130 major buildings. Includes a report by scientist David Ellyards on how, where and why bushfires start in Australia followed up by how to prevent death and destruction due to bushfires.
