UNO’s activities during 1947-48 included: partition of Palestine; building a headquarters for UNO; combating a cholera outbreak in Egypt; sending wool from Australia to Poland; attending the funeral of Mahatma Ghandi; Mutual Aid Conference in India; truce in Indonesia; sending 2,500 displaced persons to Venezuela under IRO sponsorship; launching the International Children’s Emergency Fund plans to send 140 million pounds worth of food and clothing and medical supplies for use in Asia and Europe.
