Featuring footage from seventeen recorded tracks as a backdrop, ‘Celtic tides’ takes the viewer on a cultural journey through the origins of celtic music, including interviews with performers, fans and Celtic historians who all share a passion for this vibrant music scene and display a thorough knowledge of the music’s evolution. Individual songs and performers on the tape include: Drunken piper” (Natalie MacMaster and Cookie Rankin), “An Innis aigh (The Chieftans, The Rankin Family), “Theme from Harry’s game” (Clannad), “Ta me mo shui” (Altan), “Flesh & blood” (Mary Black), “O’Neill’s march” (The Chieftans), “Step dance” (The Rankin Family), “Jack Daniels” (Natalie MacMaster), “Brenda Stubbert” (Ashley MacIsaac), “Boxty set” (Altan), “Traditional” (Old Blind Dogs), “A Cur nan goghar as a chreig” (Capercaillie), “Sleepy Maggie” (Ashley MacIsaac), “Caledonia” (Dougie MacLean), “Lady of Shalott” (Loreena McKennitt), “Seamus piping” (Seamus Egan), “E Horo” (Mary Jane Lamond).
