The narrator’s search for Mac throughout Soho, their meeting, Mac’s reminiscences - his break with his middle-class upbringing, his early days in Soho, a job as a club doorman, his meeting with his wife and their return to busking together, the breakdown of their marriage and his present life as an artist.
