Produced in England and released in the US by 20th Century Fox, this handsomely mounted but stolid adaptation of Tolstoy’s classic novel stars Vivien Leigh in the title role as a 19th century Russian gentlewoman who leaves her bureaucrat husband (Ralph Richardson) for a dashing army officer (Kieron Moore).
