This is the story of the life and career of James Stewart. Born on May 20, 1908 in Indiana, Pennsylvania, Jimmy Stewart embodied America’s idea of itself in a career spanning more than 75 often extraordinary films. Nominated for five Academy awards during his lifetime, winning Best Actor for “The Philadelphia Story” (1940), Stewart came to acting after graduating from Princeton University in 1932 with a degree in architecture. He died on July 2, 1997.
