Describes events and circumstances which lead to the American Declaration of Independence. Recalls the Boston Tea Party; the clash of British troops at Lexington and Concord; First and Second Continental Congresses held at Philadelphia; “Common Sense”, the pamphlet written by Tom Paine, which worked a change in public opinion toward British rule; Jefferson’s drafting of the Declaration of Independence and its adoption on July 4th, 1776.
