Episodes 13 and 14 of the television series Janus. “Burden of proof” (50 mins) (directed by Mandy Smith) finds the jury in a quandry - who do they believe, Dale Cassidy’s girlfriend Simone, or Steve Hennessey’s defacto wife Kirsty. Peter Faithful is put under fire on the witness stand by Michael Kidd with the suggestion that “revenge” on the Hennessey family for the murder of the two police officers at the Vic Bank armed robbery had become an obsession and that Faithful would go to any lengths to get a conviction. Pressure is also being put on Mal’s ex-girlfriend Sandy to tell the truth about the night of the murder of Patrick Clancy or face perjury. “A Lawful apprehension” (51 mins) (directed by Bill Hughes and Mandy Smith). On the strength of Sandy’s signed statement, Mal is arrested and bail application refused. The Hennessey family, Shirl, Steve and Kirsty, remain under surveillance. Peter Faithful still trying to do a deal with Steve Hennessey to dob his brother Mal in, in exchange for a new start for him and Kirsty under police protection. Contains some scenes in b&w. Cast includes Chris Haywood, Simon Westaway, Jeremy Kewley, Brett Swain, Leon Teague, Paulene Terry-Beitz, Pepe Trevor, Louise Siversen and Jane Menelaus.
