An energetic musical drama tracing the lives of eight talented teenagers who join Manhattan’s High School for the Performing Arts to train for show business careers. Follows their creative journey and emotional development from their painstaking audition day to their euphoric graduation performance four years later. The film is noted for its award winning soundtrack and the spontaneous dance sequence in the streets of New York during peak hour traffic. Cast includes: Irene Cara, Lee Curreri, Laura Dean, Antonia Franceschi, Boyd Gaines, Albert Hague, Tresa Hughes, Steve Inwood, Paul McCrane, Anne Meara, Joanna Merlin, Barry Miller, Jim Moody, Gene Anthony Ray and Maureen Teefy.
