A 9 part television serial about Australian author Alan Marshall, from his childhood and his diagnosis with Polio to his adulthood as he struggles to become a writer. Based on his three autobiographical novels “I can Jump Puddles”, ‘This is the Grass” and “How Beautiful are thy Feet”. Following his dismissal from his previous job, Alan finds work at a boot factory in Melbourne, quickly proving his worth and moving from part time to full time employment. Despite emersing himself in his work at the factory and his writing, Alan notices Biddy, a quiet employee at the factory, and the two quickly become a couple, leading to a series of events including the purchase of Alan’s first car.
