Based on Alex Garland’s best selling novel, this take on the Lord of the flies tale, reunites the production team (Danny Boyle, Andrew Macdonald, John Hodge) behind Shallow Grave and Trainspotting. Leonardo DiCaprio stars as Richard, a jaded American backpacker traveling around Thailand, in search of adventure. Bored with the familiar tourist routes the island has to offer, he happens upon Daffy (Robert Carlyle), a shady character who shows Richard a map to an island paradise that is hidden from the average tourist. Richard then takes the map and sets out along with a French couple (Virginie Ledoyen and Guillaume Canet) he meets in Bangkok in search of the mythical island. Once there however they discover that this secret utopia comes at a very dangerous price. Cast includes Tilda Swinton, Peter Gevisser, Lars Arentz-Hansen, Staffan Kihlbom. Special collectors edition includes: behind the scenes footage, alternate opening/ending, music video-All Saints “Pure Shore”, original theatrical trailer.
