This film opens on a theatre full of people. The conductor steps up and the curtains open - music starts. Irving Berlin music introduces characters from Lewis Carrolls’ “Alice in Wonderland”. As the song plays, Alice encounters each character, each elaborately costumed. Once all the characters have been introduced, the song ends; the curtain closes; the audinece applauds. Devised as a film, this piece plays like a number from a vaudeville show.
