Compilation of Canadian animated shorts that address serious issues such as urban isolation, loneliness and various neuroses, mostly in a blackly comic manner. “Bob’s birthday” (Prod, dir, Alison Snowden, David Fine) A forty-year-old dentist faces a mid-life crisis. “No problem” (Prod, Eunice Macaulay, Marcy Page, dir, Craig Welch) An aging bachelor seeks to improve his lot in life. “Rosemary and George” (Prod, Eunice Macaulay, dirs, Alison Snowden, David Fine) A man set in his solitary ways, procrastinates about asking his neighbour out on a date. “Strings” (Prod, David Verrall, dir, Wendy Tilby) A leaky faucet briefly brings two city apartment dwellers together. “The Big snit” (Prods, Richard Condie, Michael Scott, dir, Richard Condie) One day in the life of a squabbling, Scrabble-playing couple unaware that a nuclear war is going on just outside their house. “Shyness” (Prods, Bill Pettigrew, David Verrall, dir, Les Drew) Dr Frankenstein creates a neurotically shy monster. “Getting started” (Prods, Michael Scott, Jerry Krepakevich, dir, Richard Condie) Procrastination is taken to new heights in this absurd tale of a man avoiding piano practice. “Special delivery” (Pro, Derek Lamb, dirs, John Weldon, Eunice Macaulay) Ralph’s failure to shovel the front stairs leads to a dead mailman and a vanishing wife. “Get a job” (Prods, Derek Mazur, Michael Scott, Brad Caslor, dir, Brad Caslor) In this 50s inspired musical, an unemployed dog faces the perils of the job hunt. “Why me?” (Prods, dirs Janet Perlman, Derek Lamb) A man who has five minutes to live, races through a gamut of emotions. “Scant sanity” (Prod, David Verrall, dir, John F. Weldon) A man teetering on the edge of reality experiences a slew of imaginary scenarios whilst suffering through a terrifying job interview.
