Based on the novel “The Small woman” by Alan Burgess this is the true story of Gladys Aylward, an English woman who went to China as a missionary in the 1900s. The film captures her involvement in the lives of the people of Yengcheng during the violent and turbulent times leading up to the Japanese invasion. Cast includes Ingrid Bergman, Curt Jurgens, Robert Donat, Richard Wattis. Nominated for an Academy Award, Best Director.
