An intense drama from director Clint Eastwood, about three childhood friends whose paths meet in adult life when one of their teenage children is murdered. Sean Penn (Jimmy) plays the anguished father of the murdered girl (winning an Academy Award for Best Actor for his performance), with Kevin Bacon (Sean) as the police detective investigating, and Tim Robbins as the troubled suspect Dave (also an Academy Award winning performance). Based on the novel by Dennis Lehane. Cast also includes Marcia Gay Harden, Laurence Fishburne and Laura Linney.
