The romantic and carefree nature of a young Frenchman in 1960s Paris is explored in this the third film by Truffaut to feature the character Antoine Doinel. Antoine is dishonourably discharged from the army and sets about to find himself a new job and to be re-acquainted with his girlfriend Michelle. Along the way he ends up as a private detective set with the task of disguising himself as a stock boy in a shoe store to find out why the staff don’t like the boss. He himself ends up being rather taken with the boss’s wife! Cast includes Jean-Pierre Leaud, Delphine Seyrig, Claude Jade, and Michel Lonsdale. Disc also includes another short Truffaut film “Antoine and Colette”, shot in black and white. Antoine Doinel falls for a music student, but spends an evening with her parents while she’s out on a date. Available on 16mm title number X000897.
