Studio production recorded at Limehouse Studios, Docklands, London, of George Frideric Handel’s tale of love and power in three acts, “Julius Caesar”, with libretto by Nicola Haym in the edition by Noel Davies and Sir Charles Mackerras, English translation by Brian Trowell, performed by the English National Opera. Features Dame Janet Baker (Julius Caesar), Valerie Masterson (Cleopatra), Sarah Walker (Cornelia), Della Jones, (Sextus), James Bowman (Ptolemy) and John Tomlinson (Achillas) supported by the Orchestra and Chorus of the English National Opera conducted by Sir Charles Mackerras, Orchestra leader Russell Gilbert and Chorus master Victor Morris. This lavish production was specially made to coincide with Handel’s tercentenary in 1985. Booklet included.
