When a singer is drafted, a songwriter and his girlfriend decide to capitalize on the event. On national TV, Conrad Birdie will sing a song to a lucky teenager. Cast includes Janet Leigh, Dick Van Dyke, Ann-Margret, Maureen Stapleton, Bobby Rydell, Jesse Pearson and Ed Sullivan as himself. Based upon the play “Bye, bye, Birdie”, book by Michael Stewart with music and lyrics by Charles Strouse and Lee Adams.
