Macbeth, an opera in four acts after William Shakespeare, libretto by Francesco Maria Piave and Andrea Maffei and music by Giuseppe Verdi, performed live at Glyndebourne in 1972 by the Glyndebourne Ballet and Festival Chorus with the London Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by John Pritchard. This production features international singer Kostas Paskalis in the lead role of Macbeth with Josephine Barstow as Lady Macbeth, James Morris (Banquo), Keith Erwen (Macduff), Ian Caley (Malcolm), Rae Woodland (Gentlewoman), Brian Donlan (the Doctor), and John Tomlinson (the murderer). Recorded for television as part of the Glyndebourne Festival series. Sung in Italian with occasional English subtitles and includes a guide in English.
