Explains the cultures of Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia and Thailand as a blend of indigenous tribal traditions and the high culture of Hindu-Buddhist India. Discusses how former centres of empire stand as testimony to the endurance of Buddhist and Brahman idea systems in Southeast Asia. Suitable for upper primary and lower secondary levels.
