Relates the experiences of four former United States Foreign Service China specialists who foresaw the defeat of Chiang Kai-Shek and recommended, at end of World War II, that the United States adopt a more open-ended policy towards Communist China. Their advice was not headed then and they discuss their views in light of subsequent events in Asia.
