Episode number 2 of Series “Landscape with figures: the art of Australia”.
One of a series in which Robert Hughes surveys Australia’s art from the time of the first fleet to the present day. The change from a Provincial Georgian culture into Victoriana when free settlers and ‘mutton and gold’ changed everythingin Australia including its art. Works include T.S. Gill on the goldfields, the vast history of painting of William Strutt and the landscapes of Eugene von Guerard, Nicholas Chevalier, William Piguenit, S.T. Gill and Louis Buvelot. Suitable for upper secondary level.
