Covers Britain’s rearmament plans (1937); Guernica’s collapse in air raids during the Spanish Civil War; Tsingtao falling to the Japanese; the opening of a British Military Base in Singapore; the building of the French Maginot Line; the development of bomb proof shelter; air raid precaution techniques in Australia and England; the development of the Spitfire; the introduction of conscription in April 1939; a civil defence recruiting trailer; and the evacuation of children from Britain’s large cities. Suitable for middle and upper secondary levels.
