Episode of Series “Focus”.
Examines the plight of illegal immigrants awaiting deportation at Villawood Detention Centre, New South Wales. Outlines the allegations of denial of basic human rights presented at a Human Rights Commission inquire into the Centre’s operations. Presents the views of Stuard West, the Minister for Immigration and Ethnic Affairs, and Peter Bailey, the Human Rights Commissioner, concerning the treatment of illegal immigrants. Al Grassby, former Commissioner for Community Relations, also speaks out on human rights.
