A documentary of the history and activities of the Red Cross from its foundation in 1859 to the present day. Emphasises its role in providing help and protection to citizens worldwide. Depicts delegates and volunteers at work in war zones, assisting refugees and prisoners, tracing families and working with the urban poor and drug addicts.
