Every autumn in central Europe, the combined forces of fifteen member countries of NATO meet to conduct their war games - the most elaborate dress rehersal for World War III. Dyer examines some of the technically sophisticated conventional weaponry used by modern armies and outlines the nightmarish effects of chemical weapons on unprotected civilians.
