James Clyne

Art Director

James Clyne

James Clyne has been working in the entertainment industry for 20+ years. As a 800 Art Director Guild member and concept designer, James has collaborated with the most renowned film directors in the industry.

From Steven Spielberg’s A.I., Minority Report, Lincoln and War of the Worlds, to James Cameron’s Alita and Avatar, James has had the opportunity to imbed himself with storytellers across the world. In 2008, James was the production designer on the animated film, Tusker. He has also helped build and design worlds for JJ Abrams on both his Star Trek films.

In 2013, James joined ILM/Lucasfilm and quickly began work on Star Wars: The Force Awakens. In the following years, he continued work on the Last Jedi and A Star Wars Story: Solo, in which he acted as the Lucasfilm Design Supervisor. James continued his work as the Lucasfilm Design Supervisor on The Rise of Skywalker. As well as film, James has worked with several Architectural firms and AAA Game studios to further develop visionary storytelling and visual development.

In 2020, James was asked to Production Design Gareth Edward’s film The Creator. This sci-fi epic took a different approach to filmmaking. Attempting to still provide big visual storytelling and world building, we pushed ourselves to work in smaller teams and more efficiently to keep costs down. Using the beautiful landscapes of Thailand as our backdrop, set construction was kept to a minimum whilst saving more of the big visual asset creation to post production. Thus allowing for more creative control.

In early 2024 James joined the Jurassic Park franchise and is currently Production Designing the new Jurassic World Rebirth, set for release in July 2025.
