Depicting the brutality of colonisation, this film opens with a shocking massacre that leaves the Yolngu child Gutjuk in the care of missionaries. Some years later, Gutjuk teams up with ex-soldier Travis to track down Baywara, a Yolngu man who is determined to resist the invaders at all costs.
Our in-depth recorded lecture looks at context, themes, and narrative features and techniques.
