Hothouse

Education

A melting pot for aspiring moving image makers

Held during the term two school holidays, our Hothouse program inspired a new generation of moving image makers. 10 Victorian students were selected and given the unique opportunity to work with our education staff and industry mentors to create moving image works.

Guided by industry mentors and ACMI staff, students worked in groups with other like-minded students from across Victoria to create their work. In 2016, students worked in two groups to create virtual reality interactive games from scratch to screen.

At the end of the week, their work was presented at a red carpet event, where industry, government, teachers, friends and family viewed and celebrated their achievements.

To coincide with our DreamWorks Animation: The Exhibition, Hothouse 2014 focused on animation. Soupe was created by: Ernie Arthur, Red Cliffs Secondary College Jasper Turpie, Bendigo South East College Nicholas Gooch, Trinity Grammar School Ethan Catt, Eltham College Mesut Latifoglu, Sirius College.
