An Aboriginal man reflects upon the role of identity

My City Walkabout is a film with a French New Wave aesthetic that follows an Aboriginal man searching for his place in modern Australian society. Set in the man's dream, the film explores magic realism sequences to illustrate the protagonist's desire to alter his reality and ultimately find his identity. The short film is the winner of our Screen It 2013 Live Action Secondary Award.

Screen It is ACMI's nation-wide annual competition for Primary and Secondary School students. In 2013, the theme of "Connect" drew entries from every state and territory in Australia.
