A wife and mother's ordered life unravels in Chang Yi's devastating 1980s portrait of marriage and betrayal.
Wei-liang (Yang Hui-shan) is a wife and mother who keeps her home and family life in careful order. Then she discovers her husband is having an affair.
As she fights to save her marriage, the life she has built starts to unravel, and everything she once relied on slips out of her grasp.
Curator's note
In This Love of Mine, Chang Yi takes the familiar shape of domestic melodrama and pushes it into psychological horror. At the centre is Yang Hui-shan, whose extraordinary performance anchors the film's shift from heartbreak into something far more unsettling.
Released in 1986 and adapted from a novella by Hsiao Sa, the film stands among Taiwan New Cinema's defining works about marriage, gender and family life.
