Based off a real-life story, “A Taxi Driver” centres around Kim Man-seob, a widowed father who is also a taxi driver in Seoul in 1980. After overhearing an offer to drive German reporter Jürgen "Peter" Hinzpeter from Seoul to Gwangju for 100,000 won, Man-seob picks up the client and sets out for Gwangju. Little did they know that they would soon encounter university students and citizens participating in demonstrations against the government. Man-seob finds himself wanting to return to his daughter in Seoul, but Peter wants to stay and report on the growing civil unrest in Gwangju.
