The bourgeois residents of a gated community invite a mysterious massage therapist into their homes in this magical-realist marvel.

Desire and delirium in Eastern Europe... make for a bizarre hybrid, somewhere between Twin Peaks and Pasolini’s Theorem

Jonathan Romney (Screen Daily)

After migrating from Ukraine to Poland under mysterious circumstances, Zhenia (Alec Utgoff), a reserved massage therapist and perennial outsider settles within walking distance of an affluent gated community. As he carves out a daily routine of lugging his massage table from privileged door to privileged door, what starts as a daily indulgence for the residents soon grows into an indispensable salve that they cannot live without.

Co-directed by Malgorzata Szumowska (Elles, In The Name Of) and Michael Englert – first-time co-director, long-time collaborator – their resulting film is mysterious and utterly beguiling, blending striking dreamscapes with are-they-or-aren't-they magical-realist elements. Sitting beside recently acclaimed Polish films including Cold War (2018) and Corpus Christi (2019), Never Gonna Snow Again is part of an exciting chapter of Polish national cinema garnering attention on the international stage.

The film made its world premiere at the 77th Venice International Film Festival and was Poland’s official entry in the 93rd Academy Awards.
