A chilling tale of parasitic possession, hate and resistance.
In the depths of a small town, ancient parasites fuelled by hatred emerge, seizing the most fearful and vulnerable as hosts and transforming them into alt-right transphobes driven to commit hate crimes. Amidst rising hostility towards the LGBTQ+ community, a young trans filmmaker grappling with her own transition becomes the sole individual able to detect the possessed. With time ticking away, she must lead a resistance to contain the spreading horror before it engulfs everything.
Curator's note
T Blockers is the latest venture from the prolific and bold filmmaker Alice Maio Mackay, who directed the film at a mere 17 years of age. Alice’s unique and unforgettable style positions her as an exciting new voice in genre filmmaking. T Blockers received its world premiere at the 2023 Melbourne Queer Film Festival, and went on to premiere internationally at LA Outfest, where it won an award for best emerging talent.
