Systa BB: The Good, The Dub & The Global

Take your lunch break on Thursdays this July and August with Triple R presenters spinning records from 1976 in celebration of 50 years on air.

For over 30 years Systa BB (Kate Welsman) has been writing, broadcasting, DJing and dancing the rhythms that bind us. She has traversed the music realms, from broadcasting to supporting major international acts such as Tony Allen, Natacha Atlas, Mad Professor and Lee Scratch Perry.

For the past 17 years she has produced and presented The Good, The Dub & The Global on Triple R, with a previous stint on PBS. She has travelled the world making music connections and appearing on Industry Panels, sharing information for musicians to access airplay and radio experience, always with a focus on representing local artists and community.

On the local tip, from 2008-2015 she coordinated Industry Panels, was music consultant and hosted international music festival programmers and media for Australasian Worldwide Music Expo. She has continued to consult on local events since.

She has curated film and music festivals at ACMI, hosted Artist in Conversations at Arts Centre Melbourne, and has served on grant panels. For the last 30 years she has been a MC for WOMADelaide, broadcasting and DJing from the event. Most recently she is a judge on WA Screen Culture Awards, specifically Innovation in Music Video.
