Taking an unexpected direction from the genre Miller established with his highly influential previous films, Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome finds our reluctant hero coming face-to-face with the feudal Aunty Entity (Tina Turner), who lords over Bartertown and the deadly battle arena, Thunderdome.

Less emphasis on car chases and more on the brutal tribal world Aunty Entity and her minions reign over, the film sees Max leading a band of feral orphans to freedom. Never fear though, Beyond Thunderdome still bristles with mind-boggling retro-fitted cars, hair-raising stunt work, bizarre costumes and intricate world building to make this third entry into the series as white-knuckled as its predecessors.
