A quiet little town, like so many others … Doctor Philippe Morasseau, attorney Hubert Lavoisier and butcher Gerard Filiol are partners in a building project. But first, they must evict the widow Cuno and her son, the village postman. Things take a nasty turn when the doctor’s wife disappears and the butcher dies in a car accident. Enters Inspector Lavardin, a hard-nosed cop with unconventional methods. The film was a great box-office success and was followed by a sequel, ‘Inspecteur Lavardin’ in 1985.
