In 2076, the fate of humanity rests in the hands of a group of young Blak warriors. While building a spacecraft from satellite junk, the Love Punks and Satellite Sisters have to battle an angry sky god. As they travel through the desert searching for parts, they find magic crystals and mysterious petroglyphs (etched rock art) that just might help heal the land.
This future unfolds in NEOMAD, an interactive comic and live-action series with characters inspired by its young Ngarluma and Yindjibarndi creators. It’s set on their Country in the Pilbara region of Western Australia, where the kids visit Murujuga, a UNESCO heritage site with one million petroglyphs that are 35,000 years old. NEOMAD shows that this land is not just rich in minerals but also in community and culture.
Created from Ngarluma Elders’ desire to preserve cultural stories for young people, NEOMAD demonstrates how First Nations stories are passed down through generations using modern storytelling techniques and technology. In the hands of the Love Punks and Satellite Sisters, First Nations stories are alive and thriving – then, now and forever.
