There are about 250,000 artefacts in the ACMI Collection. We’ve been collecting film, videogames, artworks, home movies, stills and press kits – as well as a huge range of other paraphernalia – for over 75 years, ever since ACMI was conceived as a film lending and education organisation known as the State Film Centre. Inside the Blackmagic Media Preservation Lab, our staff and collaborators are digitising our film and time-based media collections, assessing physical artefacts from our videogame collection and film donations, as well as conducting hours of quality assessment work on our born-digital works to make the collection accessible onsite and online.
