Shows the life and work of a typical country school teacher in a one teacher school near Lismore, NSW. The teacher is shown teaching his varied class, leading them in games, and taking a useful place in the rural community. The film points out that isolation is one the main difficulties for a rural teacher, showing a conference attended by many such teachers to discuss their problems. Photography by George Lowe. Music by the East Lismore school choir.
