Anne Deveson looks at three different teaching methods which are having enormous success with intellectually handicapped youngsters. Until recently some of these children could do nothing for themselves: they are deaf, blind and mute and can only communicate by touch. Yet now they can dress, wash and feed themselves and, according to their teacher, “The sky’s the limit”
