Australia has some of the most spectacular and diverse parks in the world. This documentary explores six, capturing the beauty, history and man’s impact on the area. The parks featured are: Daintree National Park, Great Barrier Reef, Kosciusko National Park, Western Tasmania, Kakadu National Park, Uluru National Park. This journey into the most treasured areas of Australia’s heritage draws the viewer into a fascinating exploration of the relationship between landscape and the indigenous animals, local mythology, and turbulent political and social history of each park.
Our collection comprises over 40,000 moving image works, acquired and catalogued between the 1940s and early 2000s. As a result, some items may reflect outdated, offensive and possibly harmful views and opinions. ACMI is working to identify and redress such usages.
