Designed to provide the intellectual disability residential care worker with an insight into what it means to be part of a family that includes a child with developmental disabilities, an understanding of the grieving process and how families cope, an appreciation of the needs of different families, to learn ways of interacting positively with parents, to examine methods of developing effective partnerships with parents and most importantly develop an appreciation of the uniqueness of families and their reactions.
