Gandel Digital Future Lab 2

Gandel Foundation

Thanks to a generous Flagship Grant from Gandel Foundation we have two revitalised education studios – the Gandel Digital Future Labs – and had support to take our education programs into regional Victoria. We partnered with the Geelong and Bendigo Tech Schools to deliver programs in entrepreneurship, game design and emerging technologies. Gandel Foundation’s partnership provides real-life learning environments for young people to explore the skills and creativity for the jobs of their future.

Memo Akten exhibition - social

Naomi Milgrom Foundation

Thanks to Naomi Milgrom AC and the Naomi Milgrom Foundation, we launched a new series of international moving image art exhibitions. In 2021 the first artwork was Raumlichtkunst by Oskar Fischinger on display in our exhibition, The Story of the Moving Image. In June 2023, our second artwork, currently on display, is Memo Akten's, Distributed Consciousness, a visually compelling artwork that explores creative applications of artificial intelligence. Our important partnership builds on ACMI’s and Naomi Milgrom AC’s experience of supporting, commissioning and presenting leading global artists working with the moving image.

Moving Australia

6a Foundation

The 6a Foundation and Ricci Swart’s generous support focuses on a section of our centrepiece exhibition, Moving Australia. At the heart of The Story of the Moving Image exhibition, this section celebrates the ground-breaking films, television programs and people from in-front and behind the camera, which reflects our unique stories, breathtaking landscapes and explore our national identity.

Generous support from the Sidney Myer Fund enabled us to commission local First Nations artist Vicki Couzens' dynamic sculptural light installation and moving image work titled Yanmeeyarr  for the entrance and exit of our centrepiece exhibition The Story of the Moving Image.
