Come and play five exciting new games from VicScreen's Originate Games recipients.
ACMI and VicScreen are teaming up for this special Works-in-Progress Night, showcasing five games currently in development via the VicScreen Originate Games initiative.
Originate Games supports the development of original early-stage concepts from Victorian game developers, with a focus on new voices and new projects. First hear from the creators of the games, then enjoy the opportunity to playtest the works and provide real-time feedback to the creators.

WYRMSPACE TACTICS (Wali Studios)
Join a crew of traumatised space pirates in this tile tactics card game as you commit faster-than-light heists! Push your luck and play your cards right to break in and out of freighter ships with the bag! The more you learn about your crew's past, the more memories you unlock as new cards to play.
Wali Studios is a First Nations and diversity-led 6 person team based across Naarm (Melbourne), Gadigal Land (Sydney) & Whadjuk Noongar Country (Perth). Wyrmspace Tactics is their debut game!
PARASENSOR (Ghoulish)
When Marisol starts a new life as a telecom technician, she finds herself out of her depth in a mutating city. Connect with strangers, confront grotesque creatures, and unravel a conspiracy at the heart of the metamorphosis.
Ghoulish is a brand spankin’ new indie studio based in Naarm/Melbourne.
JUNKYARD ZOO (Marc-O-Matic)
Junkyard Zoo is an experimental, cosy process & assembly game about finding purpose in the discarded. Creating a 'Sanctuary of Mechanical Animalia' and 'Temple of Lost Knowledge' from the junk & scrap humanity left behind. Scavenge for materials, assemble long-lost creatures and unite machines, humans & hybrids alike to this new beacon of civilisation called the Junkyard Zoo!
Marc-O-Matic (Marco Octavian Matic) is a multimedia artist and creative technologist working across illustration, animation, augmented and virtual reality, and games. A recipient of an Epic Games MegaGrant, his internationally exhibited practice is recognised for reimagining traditional art forms through immersive digital mediums.
BRINE POOL (Quinn Franks)
Brine Pool is a surreal comedy following a cast of bizarre creatures roaming a desolate waste. Indulge in their delusions, dance at the bush doof, uncover a cultish ceremony and ultimately weigh the consequences of pickle-based immortality.
Quinn Franks is a Melbourne-based 3D artist and animator who uses emerging technologies across film and interactive media to create surreal, character driven work. His practice is multidisciplinary and experimental, incorporating film, videogames and interactive installation. Quinn’s work often explores themes of identity, isolation, and interpersonal tension through a combination of new media, bizarre imagery, humour and unhinged characters, in particular creatures.
CANVAS STREET (Apartment 809)
In Canvas Street, you are an architect. Design funky homes for your clients, and build up a neighbourhood with your ideas. Keep your clients requests in mind as you go, to try and get the ‘good ending’ for your developments!
Apartment 809 are a boutique games studio, based in Naarm/ Melbourne. They like to make quirky games, bursting with character. In their work, you can expect unique gameplay, a distinct art style, and lots of strange creatures.
REAPRIEVE (10PM Club)
Reaprieve is an existential puzzle game about a desperate office worker at a memory collection company between life and death. Office worker Milo will be fired from Reaprieve in 7 days. He becomes obsessed with taking back his past by scouring through the minds of the dead. What will you sacrifice to get what you want?
10PM Club is an independent game studio based in Naarm/Melbourne, Australia for the sleepy and sleepless.

Screen creatives are invited to submit their projects at early stages of development.
Up to five works-in-progress will be shown per night. Basic equipment will be provided to practitioners, depending on project requirements.
