Yann, a sailor, is in charge of the ‘Pecheur d’Islande’, a fishing boat said to be jinxed. The boat belongs to Mevel, a rich ship owner whose daughter, Gaud, is in love with Yann. After Gaud’s father becomes bankrupt, Gaud and Yann get married. But their happiness is short-lived. A week after their wedding, Yann goes back to sea while Gaud must struggle to adapt a life of endless waiting. ‘Pecheur d’Islande’ revealed to a vast audience the epic story of the fishing expeditions to the arctic seas.
