At the end of WWI, Pascal Laurent, a young teacher, is sent to replace a retiring teacher in a small village of Provence. Pascal is keen on replacing the old authoritarian method of education with a new pedagogy. The children are soon won over, but Pascal’s unorthodox methods meet with the resistance from both his superiors and his students’ parents.
