This film attractively depicts the harsh life of the Mongolian Steppes, it is a deeply moving film. An old woman lives a lonely traditional life on the beautiful Mongolian Steppes. She and her orphaned granddaughter eke out a living as shepherds. When a fathers asks to leave his little boy with them to be brought up, the old lady acepts gracefully. The children grow up a brither and sister, learning to survive the blistering summers and freezing winters. They cant afford a horse, but as fate would have it, a lost foal wanders into their compound one cold night and becomes the boys proudest possession. The children grow up and become engaged, the young man leaves for the city and an education. Upon his return, his sweetheart has become pregnant to the local bully In Chinese with English subtitles.
